I don’t know about you, but when I was a kid, whenever I’d ask my mom what she wanted for her birthday or for Mother’s Day, she’d always respond with something ridiculous like “world peace” or “for you and your brother to get along” (ya ok mom…. I’ll have a better time giving you world peace! LOL!) but finally, after enough nonstop asking (nagging), she’d always say “something homemade.”

As a crafter I always loved when she’d say this because not only did I already love crafting, making DIY gifts, etc. But when someone, especially my mom of all people, would specifically REQUEST something homemade, it always motivated me to create the best thing I possibly could for her.

From pottery and Cricut cards I designed from favorite photos, to decking out the kitchen in balloons and streamers, I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of trying to top whatever I did last year, and really putting in the time and effort into something special that my mom would love and never see coming.
